Carey:

Bio:

Carey has coached at Cougars volleyball for six years, winning Cougars first Bronze medal at provincials. Carey also coaches senior volleyball at Samuel Robertson Technical School. He is Development and Advanced and Development trained and a certified Volleyball Referee.

Philosophy:

I believe in a positive environment, teamwork, hardwork, developing skills to be better individuals on the court and in life.

Personal Life:

Carey enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and dog, hiking and biking.

Deanne has been involved in coaching all of her adult life, starting with basketball and martial arts.  More recently, she has been the Head Coach of the Brookswood Secondary Senior Girls Volleyball team for the past 7 years.  While at Brookswood, she has helped build and grow their volleyball program, from a team count of 2 when she started, to 7 teams this year.  Along with the athletic directors, she oversees the running of the entire volleyball program, including the recruiting and mentoring of new coaches.  Deanne also founded and runs Above the Net, a non-profit association that runs volleyball skill development programs for elementary school aged children in the Brookswood community. She is passionate about equitable access to sport, character development through sport, and encouraging positive mental health within sports culture.  In her personal life, Deanne works as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, 4 children, and 2 dogs, going hiking and camping, and she loves all things Disney (some may call her a Disney Adult!).

Club Fees for the season will be $1,780

***Sportlomo (VBC Insurance) registration is $82.95 & is NOT included in team fees***

Jerseys and other gear (Personal Ball)

1 Pair of Black ‘Cougars’ sleeves

3 Volleyball BC Tournaments

2 Regional 1 Day Tournament

Provincials

Not included in Team fees:

Volleyball ‘sleeves’ (optional for jersey) $28/pair - available in Black and White

Nationals

Any other tournaments the team and coaching staff would like to participate in

Cougar Volleyball guarantees a safe and fair training environment where all coaches will treat athletes with respect. The expectation is that athletes treat each other, and all coaches, with respect as well.

Unless explicitly stated, play time will not be equal. Cougar Volleyball is a competitive club program and athletes will be awarded with more play time if they demonstrate competency in the following areas (in no particular order):

Athleticism

Ball Control

Positional Skill

Positive Attitude

Desire to Learn

Leadership

Attendance at Training

Commitment to the Team

Play time will not be decided by factors such as unsubstantiated favoritism or relationship with the coach.

If any athlete or parent has a complaint with their coach, please address it in the following manner:

1) WAIT at least 24-48 hours before any action.

2) Respectfully bring the issue forward with the coach, either in person or via email. Discuss and look to find a solution that works for both parties.

3) If conflict persists, send an email to rmcougarvolleyball@gmail.com with the nature of the concern and the administrative team at Cougars Volleyball will look to mediate the conflict.

Tryout fee is $35.00, this is non refundable. Please ensure you can make the time before you register for tryouts.

Tryouts are held at the Cougar Volleyball warehouse.
