• Cougar Beach 15U - 18U

The Cougar Beach Volleyball Program is designed to improve the athlete’s beach volleyball skills in a fun but challenging setting.

Athletes will be grouped by age first & then skill level so their training can be designed appropriately.  Athletes  sign up as individuals and can request to be paired so they can create & train together as team mates. Athletes who register as individuals will be paired with same age category/gender/skilled athletes to form teams of 2 accordingly.

First night  of training will be a seeding session to sort the athletes into their appropriate skill level & gender groups.

As allowed, the Club will try and organize 2 tournaments for each age group category (15u-18u) and (13u-14u) over the summer sessions for the teams to compete in. Other beach club teams may be invited to participate to offer a variety of competition for our athletes.

Consequently, teams can also register for any Volleyball BC Beach Tournaments being offered by Volleyball BC.

Registration & costs for these tournaments will be extra and will be on a first come- first served basis with priority registration being given to our Cougar Club Athletes first for the Cougars hosted beach tourneys. Tourneys cost will approx. be $50 per team.

*Please note this is an advanced program. Club experience is highly recommended*

COST $425

  • Lead Coach:

    Shub Wander

At the age of 25, volleyball has been part of my life for 20 years, where I have progressed in club to earn provincial and national gold medals, played for the University of the Fraser Valley and went overseas for a professional contract in Denmark as an athlete for the men’s team. As well, I have been a coach for the Canadian women’s professional team, with the latest venture of joining Capilano as an athlete and assistant coach. While indoor is my main focus, I have played beach for 5 years and joined the KBVA for there tournaments at Kits Beach and this year will be joining the Vancouver Open. While thats a short summary of my athletic career, as a coach I have been present for 13 years, where I have coached at multiple clubs, and as mentioned above, coached a women’s professional team in Denmark with the latest venture of coaching the men’s Capilano team.

While my journey continues and my knowledge and experiences change my initial view, one constant remains which is the belief that an athletes imagination is the only limiting factor for their potential growth in the sport, especially when considering beach volleyball.
